Why work with a freelance web designer?
You work directly with the person who is planning, designing, and building your website.
That means fewer handovers, clearer communication, and a closer understanding of your business. You will know who to contact when you have a question, both during the project and after launch.
How much does a website cost?
My managed website service costs £125 per month.
A £125 deposit reserves your project start date. This becomes your first monthly payment when the website launches, and there are no further monthly website payments during the build.
The monthly fee includes hosting, maintenance, technical support, and up to two hours of website updates each month.
For comparison, purchasing a straightforward website outright would typically cost approximately £2,500, with more complex projects costing more.
Is there a minimum contract?
The managed website service begins with a six-month agreement.
After the initial six months, it continues on a rolling monthly basis and can be cancelled with one month's notice.
Who owns the website?
Your domain, business information, copy, and any photographs you supplied remain yours.
The website code remains part of my managed service. If you decide that you would like to own the code and move the website elsewhere, you can purchase it for £2,500.
I can also provide an export of any relevant website data for free.
How long does a website take to build?
A typical small-business website takes approximately six to eight weeks, although the exact timeframe depends on the size of the website, the functionality required, and how quickly content and feedback are provided.
More complex websites may take longer.
We will agree on an expected timeframe before the project begins. If you have a particular launch date in mind, mention it when you contact me and I will explain what is realistic.
What do I need before contacting you?
Nothing formal.
You do not need a finished logo, professionally written copy, a list of pages, or a detailed technical specification.
If you already have branding, photography, written content, or an existing website, that will be useful. If you are starting from zero, I can help you work out what is needed.
Can you write the website copy?
Yes.
You can provide the finished copy, write an initial draft for me to improve, or ask me to help create it.
We will decide which approach works best for you during the planning stage.
Will my website be search-engine friendly?
Your website will be built with technical SEO, performance, and accessibility in mind.
I can also provide keyword research, content planning, local SEO support, and Google Business Profile optimisation.
No responsible web designer can guarantee a particular Google ranking, but I can make sure your website has strong foundations and targets relevant searches.
Is hosting included?
Yes. Website hosting is included in the monthly fee.
I also manage routine technical maintenance, security measures, and software updates.
Your domain name and email hosting are separate, although I can help you configure them.
Will I be able to update my website?
Yes, I can provide straightforward guidance and show you how to make appropriate updates yourself.
The monthly service also includes up to two hours of website updates each month, so you can ask me to handle changes when that is easier.
How many revisions can I request?
The process is collaborative, and you will have opportunities to review the website and provide feedback throughout the design and development stages.
I do not restrict you to one or two small revision rounds. However, we will work within the agreed project scope and six-month development period.
If the project changes substantially after work begins, I will explain any effect on the scope or cost before proceeding.
Can you improve a website I built myself?
Yes, I can review websites created with DIY platforms, templates, AI tools, or custom code. Depending on what you already have, I may be able to improve it without rebuilding everything.
I will explain whether repairing, redesigning, or replacing it offers the best value.
Do you only create alternative-looking websites?
No.
